Daily Recap:
It was a nice and active walk through the Town Forest this morning. Plenty of birds—most of them the same regulars I’ve seen throughout this challenge—but a couple of new migrants showed up today.
I ended the day with 15 warbler species, including a new addition for the year: Wilson’s Warbler. While I’ve had Wilson’s here in past years, this was the first sighting for the Town Forest in 2025.
I also had a brief sighting of a thrush that I originally logged as a Veery, but after reviewing my photos at home, I had second thoughts. I managed to snap one clear picture, and after studying it closely, I confirmed it as a Swainson’s Thrush, thanks to its buffy eye ring.
Not much else to report today besides those two new species—but the Swainson’s brings me just one species away from reaching 140 on the Town Forest life list. We're currently sitting at 139!
I plan to head back in the morning to take advantage of the last clear day before another stretch of rain hits—five more rainy days ahead.
