Daily Recap:
A pretty active walk at the Town Forest today with 34 species in just 37 minutes. Still a cold day, which is why I didn’t stay out too long again.
Most of the birds were heard rather than seen, but among the ones I did get eyes on was a very large group of swallows. I’d estimate somewhere between 50 to 100 individuals. I got great views of many Barn Swallows and a few Tree Swallows, but far in the distance off to the back left side of the pond, there was another massive flock that I’m assuming was mostly Barn Swallows as well.
Other than that, it was mostly the usual suspects.
Tomorrow, I’ll be leading a field trip at the Town Forest and will be there bright and early at 7 a.m. Hoping for some good birds for the crew! This will be only the third tour I’ve ever led, so I’m excited to get out there and share the experience.
