Daily Recap:
The Town Forest was completely fogged over when I arrived—I could barely see a thing. Luckily, I could hear, and what I heard was an incredibly active forest hidden behind the fog.
As I made my way through the trail, I tallied 17 species of warblers, with especially high individual counts—definitely my biggest warbler day yet here at the Town Forest.
I highlighted Gray Catbird due to a surprising 13 individuals seen along the trail, including a group of six all in one tree! It must have been a strong overnight push for them.
I also had great looks at a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird, a new species for the Town Forest this year.
After a full three-hour walk, I finished with 62 species—many of them familiar from previous days, but with peak migration still approaching, there’s plenty more to come.
Only a couple more days of rain are in the forecast, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the sun brings out next!
